Edward Hicks, APC, received his degree in psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Masters from Richmont Graduate University. Edward completed his practicum training at Laurel Heights, a residential treatment center for adolescents. He has since worked for almost a decade in mental health hospitals serving as a therapist and a lead in adolescent, addiction/compulsive disorders, and adult treatments. Edward specializes in crisis intervention, addictions, healthy media practice (video game, pornography, and media compulsion), anxiety, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and self-harm. Edward’s unique therapy style was quickly noticed by the founders of Bridgepoint during his tenure at a local psychiatric hospital, making him a natural addition to Bridgepoint’s team of providers. 

Edward’s demeanor is direct, energetic, animated, and engaging. He uses skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and practices from an Interpersonal and Narrative lens. Edward is self-described as a “nerd therapist”. Upon request, Edward can incorporate Virtual Reality, Dungeons and Dragons Therapy, dramatic arts, and video game therapy. Edward is certified in Dungeons and Dragons therapy. Edward is excellent at working with family, couples, adults, and adolescent clients. Edward has day and evening appointments and is in-network with Cigna Insurance. He offers a reduced self-pay rate for those who qualify. 

In his free time, Edward enjoys spending time with friends and family. He attends a variety of Cons across the country and stays active in the Atlanta Con culture. Edward is an avid gamer and enjoys learning about the use of gaming in therapeutic settings.
